Il pezzo può essere visto come una riflessione sulla nostra apparente libertà. In fondo siamo tutti manipolati da chi "sta in alto" e il sistema consumistico non fa altro che schiacciarci e infonderci l'illusione di questa libertà. Potere alla gente? Sì, ma con criterio e con la consapevolezza che il potere implica il sapere, e si può agire solo avendo le giuste cognizioni del caso!

PUBLIC ENEMY. Sorto alla fine degli anni Ottanta, è uno dei gruppi rap più controversi della storia della musica, per i roventi attacchi e riferimenti alla politica. Fight the power (1989) è uno dei singoli più rappresentativi della filosofia di Flavor Flav e Chuck D (D. sta per Dangerous), nonché pezzo portante del film Do the right thing di Spike Lee. Tra gli album:  Apocalypse 91...The Enemy Strikes Black (1991) che all'epoca ebbe un grande successo. Negli ultimi anni il gruppo ha visto calare "le sue quotazioni", causa anche la partecipazione di Flavor Flav ad alcuni reality-show; cosa che non è piaciuta ad alcuni fans.
